Meet Mattie Jane's
Where It Started.
Mattie Jane was Sherrie's grandmother. The one who taught her to bake — cakes, cupcakes, cookies, the kind of things that fill a kitchen up. When Sherrie settled in Loris, she saw a town that hadn't had a bakery in forty years and decided to do something about it. Her family moved from Florida to help her build it.
When health made the pace of daily baking too much to sustain, they didn't close — they changed. Mattie Jane's became a coffee shop, added a full food menu, and kept the thing Sherrie started with: the feeling that Loris deserved something it hadn't had before.
She's still here most days. In the kitchen, making deliveries, sitting down with whoever comes through the door. The place grew. She grew with it.
What We Do
Stop in and look around. There's a reason people spend time here beyond the drinks. Original brick wall. Stamped tin ceiling tiles from the 1940s. Golden Girls in Gucci on the walls. Something hanging from the ceiling you didn't notice the first three times you came in. A mural that says Keep It Golden, Loris — and means it.
The menu changes with the season. The food is fresh and the combinations are familiar enough that you'll order it, unexpected enough that you'll talk about it. The coffee is good. Come see for yourself.
